The Child Health Task Force Secretariat hosted a members' meeting to share progress on the initiative to renew action for child survival. In 2020, preventable causes took the lives of nearly 2.7 million children aged from one month to 5 years. It is time for us as a global community to act. As discussed at the 2021 members meeting, the Secretariat convened a working group including the Global Financing Facility, Save the Children, UNICEF, USAID and WHO to frame the vision for accelerated actions to reach the 2030 under-five mortality target. Ministries of health in Sierra Leone and Tanzania and partners hosted a roundtable during the World Health Assembly to define these actions and needs to address the unfinished child survival agenda.
At this meeting, the Secretariat briefed the members on the vision for child survival action, key messages from the roundtable and next steps for country engagement. Participants shared their feedback and ideas for taking this initiative forward.
The meeting was in English and French, with recordings in both languages.
